What Are Industrial Seconds?

The Factory Seconds Event is hosted by Home and Cook Sales, an authorized dealer of All-Clad and several other brands of cookware. Items featured in the sale (usually) have minor imperfections, such as a scuff on the pan, a misaligned name stamp, or a dented box. Every product on the website lists some kind of imperfection in the article (eg, packaging damage). You will need to enter an email address to access the sale.

Although stains may vary, the seller says all cookware will perform as intended. Should any problem arise, almost all All-Clad Factory Seconds products are backed by All-Clad’s limited lifetime warranty. (Electronics have slightly different warranties; check individual product pages for details.) We used Factory Seconds pots and pans, and they all worked as advertised. Just remember that all sales are final.

All-Clad D5 Essentials Pan

The Essential is one of our favorite pans. You might say, ahem, it’s important in the kitchen. We love that it works well for all kinds of tasks. Its high walls prevent oil from splashing onto your countertop, and it can double as a flat-bottomed wok or Dutch oven. It’s also dishwasher-safe.

If you often sauté your vegetables in a frying pan, a deep sauté pan is what you need. This one has a large base to cook on, but tall walls to keep your ingredients inside the pan and cover your stove. Also, the sides are flat, so you can use them for leverage when flipping something with a spatula.

Everyone needs a good stainless steel frying pan. This 10.5-inch pan isn’t huge, but it’s big enough to cook grilled cheese, chicken breast, or a few eggs. It’s not permanent, it takes some getting used to—make sure your oil or fat is hot before adding food—but once you get flawless cooking you’ll never want to mess with it again. Good quality stainless provides even heat, with fewer hot spots, and makes cooking easier once you get the hang of it.

All Clad 3Quart Saucepan

All-Clad’s mix of copper, aluminum, and 18/10 non-stick makes it one of the best heat-resistant pans WIRED reviewer Scott Gilbertson has used (besides cast iron). Uses a small variety of sauces, boiling potatoes, making bourbon-bacon crusts, and many other uses. This is a workhorse in the kitchen. A fitted lid reduces evaporation (if desired).

This basket is great for roasting things like asparagus or fruit. The bottom has holes to allow a smoky, charcoal-y goodness to flavor your food, without the risk of losing things to the bottom of the grate as they cook. I like to take my camper for that purpose.

AllClad Oval Bakers Pans

These little egg-shaped dishes are great for serving as side dishes or for individual meals, but if you’re like me and don’t have a microwave, they’re also great for leftover heat from the stove or oven.

Think of a world where you cook your pasta and just pull out the strainer instead of running hot water down the sink. That world is possible with this multipot, which includes a strainer basket that’s perfect for pasta or whipping stock without having to strain it afterwards. Of course, an outdoor pot can be used without a strainer—perfect if you’re making lots of soup this winter.

AllClad 5piece Measuring Cups Set

These measuring cups are durable. Your great-great-grandchildren may use something for themselves. I like that they are deep. When I pour a quarter cup of oil for a recipe, I don’t have to worry about keeping my hand as steady as I do with shallow, wide measuring cups. You can also get an odd size set for the same price.

It’s almost that time of the year. These turkey skewers are perfect for your Thanksgiving bird, or other large hunks of meat you might roast in the colder months. They’ll help you get a good grip and reduce the risk of spending six hours smelling amazing food but accidentally dropping it. Just check those shipping times if you’re counting on getting this on a certain day.

Holiday cookie season is fast approaching. This bakeware set will help you prepare meals for all your neighbors, friends, and neighbors’ friends. It comes with two cookie sheets and a wire cooling rack, so if you’re baking large batches, everything will have a chance to cool before decorating. I can attest to the power of non-stick cookie sheets, and that stickiness makes them easy to clean.

AllClad grill with a handle on each side on a wooden disc

This small grill pan is another useful winter staple. I realize that some of you may not be from Wisconsin, so they may not want to go out unless it’s cold just to eat. A cast-iron grill pan helps create those tasty grill pans, and this one comes with an Acacia wood trivet so you can serve food straight from the pan. There are also built-in drain spouts to drain excess oil.

Every mixing bowl in my house seems dirty when I need it most. This third pack is tempting. Includes 1.5-quart, 3-quart, and 5-quart containers, all with rolled rims for easy pouring. They stack for easy storage.

This little pot is perfect for melting butter, heating syrup, or making the world’s smallest soufflé. It is induction compatible and oven safe up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. I don’t have a microwave, so I always wait on the double-boiler to melt my butter. Maybe I need a small-but-mighty pan in my kitchen.

This pan is very versatile and very large, measuring 19 inches by 15 centimeters. It’s oven- and broiler-safe up to 600 degrees Fahrenheit and a great option for roasting turkeys, hams, or lots of root vegetables.
