Hitchins MUST Win Tonight: The 140’s Future Depends On It
Richardson Hitchins must win tonight against IBF light welterweight champion Liam Paro to bring excitement and charisma to the 140-lb division.
Shakur-esque, But Better
Hitchin (19-0, 7 KOs) has a Shakur-esque fighting style but with more power, aggression, and less athleticism. He is what the light welterweight division needs to bring back the entertainment that has been missing since Ryan Garcia was suspended for one year. This guy, Hitchins, is pure gold and you have the power to bring this dead division back to life.
Guys like Paro have nothing interesting about their fighting style and it’s not their personality. Paro doesn’t have the ability to sell fights to international fans, and he doesn’t have the crowd-pleasing style that Hitchins has.
Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn has been building Paro up, talking about wanting to match him with George Kambosos Jr. if he wins. Stop wasting time. That’s what fans have to look forward to if Paro finds a way to win tonight against Hitchins.
Hearn is backing the wrong horse by focusing too much on Paro at the expense of the real gem, Hitchins. It’s ironic that a slick promoter like Hearn doesn’t see Hitchins’ potential because he should be talking about him day and night. In his recent fights, he has knocked out Gustavo Lemos, Jose Zepeda, and John Bauza.
The Complete Package
Hitchins from Brooklyn, New York has the talent and charisma to be a star. He just needs to figure out how to get past Paro tonight to claim the IBF throne and start some exciting fights against other champions.
Hopefully, there is a good referee on duty tonight who can cool Paro’s excessive grabbing, pushing and moving. Paro (25-0, 15 KOs) will likely use those tactics to win, and they’ve been effective so far.
Paro-Hitchins will headline the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The event will be shown live on DAZN.
“Richardson Hitchins is of the same mold as Shiakur,” said Eddie Hearn speaking to Matchroom Boxing, talking about tonight’s fight between Liam Paro who is the IBF light welterweight champion and Richardson Hitchins.
“That’s what we love about boxing. There are big things for both guys, and it’s all or nothing. “
