Hyatt loses Tommie Hollywood to Marriott. Is Thompson the next Hollywood?

While Hyatt has been on the road to expanding its lifestyle hotels for the past few years, one of its best-known properties is leaving the World of Hyatt orbit for Marriott Bonvoy.

It looks like another one may follow soon.

The 212-room Tommie Hollywood (sister of Thompson Hotels and part of Hyatt’s JdV) will drop its affiliation with Hyatt at the end of this month and link up with Marriott. The change will result in a new name for the hotel: Hollywood Volume, Tribute Portfolio Hotel.

“As of October 28, 2024, at 11:59 pm local time, Tommie Hollywood will no longer be operated as a Hyatt-branded or Hyatt-affiliated hotel,” Beth Outlaw, general manager of Tommie Hollywood, said in a statement. sent by TPG. “We are working with the hotel owner to ensure a smooth transition for guests and partners.”

Outlaw was not privy to the details and also noted that the hotel will “transition to a hotel brand outside of Hyatt’s portfolio” — but you can already find the property on Marriott’s website. There’s also been a lot of talk in travel forums (as reported by One Mile at a Time ) that the neighboring 190-room Thompson Hollywood might move back from the Marriott and join the Autograph Collection.

A Hyatt spokesperson declined to comment on the rumors and told TPG, “We have no news to share at this time regarding the Thompson Hollywood, and it remains business as usual at the hotel.”

World of Hyatt members won’t be completely lacking in Hollywood options going forward, as Dream Hollywood’s Dream Hollywood is just one block away from the Tommie/Thompson complex. Marriott Bonvoy members will now have a variety of options, with Tommie-turned-Hollywood Volume just blocks from the newly renovated W Hollywood.

The closure of Tommie Hollywood means the smaller Tommie brand within Hyatt’s JdV is now available only in Austin.
