What We Do in the Shadows it may be gone forever, but its cast will always have memories — and a few souvenirs they took from the set.

“I took a lot,” Harvey Guillenwho played Guillermo, was only told Us Weekly before the end of the series on Monday, December 16. “I took a lot [Guillermo’s] sweaters. … I’m a big collector, and I’ve collected some of the lamps that were in Nandor’s room that are now in my guest room to match the vibe. For me, it was the perfect game.”

Mark Prokschwho played the energy vampire actor Colin Robinson, said that he occasionally kept things that he thought fans might want on the floor or that could be donated to charity. But he also kept a few things for himself, including a locket – complete with a picture Vanessa Bayercharacter, Evie – who is part of the ending. (Colin briefly dated Evie, an energy vampire, in season 1.)

“I ended up giving that locket to Vanessa,” Proksch, 46, said Usjoking that most of the vampire decor doesn’t really match the beauty of her home. “The full beavers and vampire pictures don’t fit what I’m doing.”

Kavyan Novakwho played the role of Nandor, took a picture of his character home, while Kristen Schaalalso known as the Guide, he kept Guillermo’s frog and a picture of Paul Rubeni which appeared in season 1 when the late actor appeared on the show.

Although the fans are upset about that WWDITS is over for good, the characters are satisfied with the way the ending wrapped things up. (The documentary crew stopped filming the group of vampires, but Nandor and Guillermo agreed to continue working together as crime fighters.)

“I think it’s a good way to wrap up all these characters stories. And something fun for the audience to see,” said Guillén, 34. “It was a great ending to a great series.”

Proksch agreed, noting that he thought this was the right time to end the program. “The danger you can fall into is to keep the show going longer than its life, to keep it in the culture of life,” he explained. “This is a program where we all have fun working together. The texts are really funny. You can be comfortable and stay a long time because you enjoy all these other things, so I think ending it after 6 seasons is a good place to end it while still making people laugh.”

Some fans are still hoping that the gang will make a movie comeback, à la The circle or Sex and the Citybut the actors differed on whether that should happen (and Proksch pointed out that there was already a What We Do in the Shadows movie in 2014, which inspired the show).

Novak, 46, said the chance of another film happening is “very slim,” but Schaal, also 46, is optimistic. “There will definitely be a movie. Heard it here first!” he told Us.

Guillén, on the other hand, will get the film again – just not right away. “We can definitely revisit these actors in a few years and see what they are up to,” he said. “I got that.”

One thing Nandor and Guillermo will never achieve, however, is a romantic relationship. The ending definitely shattered the dreams of those fans who were hoping that the two would kiss before the end of the series. Once again, the cast is divided on how the two feel about each other, with Schaal saying he wants to see the duo smooch and Guillén voicing her support for how things ended.

“At the end of the day, they end up together,” he said of the finale, which shows Guillermo and Nandor descending deep into Nandor’s newly transformed coffin. “We have to get used to having relationships with friends of the same sex that are not sexual and get used to being friends and being loving like a man to another man, and generally being loving towards them and wanting to be in their lives and take care of them. with them, and they want to wish them all the best, not in the sense of love. And that’s okay.”

Guillén noted that even if the kiss never came, the fans got what they wanted: Nandor and Guillermo rode off into the sunset.

“I’m the first to say yes to fake love,” added Guillén. “But I think their love is there. They end up together. You found what you were looking for! They ended up together in a casket, literally a coffin, and fell to the ground in a secret place. Like, they end up being partners. If you really love someone, isn’t that what you want? Just to have them in your life every day, and that’s it. They ended up together, and I’m happy with how things turned out.”

All six seasons of What We Do in the Shadows are available to stream on Hulu.
