Why Keyshawn WILL DROP Berinchyk
Today, Keyshawn Davis said on social media that he will be there “unbelievably strong” on February 14 when he fought next. Davis (12-0, 8 KOs) is expected to challenge Denys Berinchyk next for his WBO lightweight belt at Madison Square Garden at the Hula Theater in New York.
Davis is not saying how he will get stronger because he is not known as a boxer. He’s still a boxer, and the guys he knocked out were mostly middleweight boxers. Keyshawn Berinchyk is too talented for Davis to beat, so it’s dumb for him to focus on that angle to win this fight. Berinchyk has beaten many strong fighters during his years in the amateur ranks.
Keyshawn chose not to take the belt from his friend Shakur Stevenson, who is the WBC lightweight champion, because he did not want to fight him. He believes he will beat Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs) to take his WBO belt and use the title to secure fights with Gervonta Davis and Vasily Lomachenko. It sounds like a pipe dream.
The things Keyshawn came up with sound like he’s daydreaming with no chance of happening in his career and they’re completely unrealistic. He’s not even trying to put himself through reasonable steps to get a fight with Tank or Loma by beating Andy Cruz or Edwin De Los Santos. He thinks that by beating Berinchyk, those popular stars will want to fight him. Battles will just come to him like gravity, forcing themselves into his lap without risking it.
If Keyshawn can get his hands on the WBO belt, he will defend it against any known Top Rank fighter who can hold it for him, but it won’t be Tank or Loma. That doesn’t happen.
Backdoor Champion
Those guys won’t fight Davis, but not because they’re afraid of him. Both are looking toward retirement and will focus more on popular fighters that casual boxing fans have heard about. Keyshawn is hardly known to the general public.
Top Rank was quickly followed by 2020 Olympic silver medalist Davis, who took him to a title shot without having to work his way there, against any of the top contenders in the lightweight division, such as Andy Cruz or Edwin De Los Santos . It is called ‘Back way’ that promoters use fighters they don’t want to risk.
If they believed in Keyshawn, they would test him against Cruz and De Los Santos. They obviously know what can happen to Davis if he fights either of those two talents, and it won’t be good for him. It could be a rematch for Keyshawn at the 2020 Olympics.
The next time I’m in that ring, I’ll be unbelievably strong.💪🏾 #feb14⭐️
