Welsh brand Goodwash sees sales boost following Gavin and Stacey Christmas final appearance
Barry-based social enterprise, The Goodwash Company, has experienced a staggering 20% increase in online sales after appearing in the highly anticipated finale of Gavin and Stacey’s Christmas special.
The company’s luxury, cruelty-free hand wash was featured in Pam and Mick West’s Billericay bathroom, marking an important milestone for the Welsh brand.
A cameo in one of the UK’s most popular sports brought national attention and sparked a surge in online sales and engagement. In just two days, TikTok views increased from an average of 2k to almost 100k.
Mandy Powell, founder of The Goodwash Company, shared: “Being exposed to Gavin and Stacey has been an amazing experience for us. It means a lot to me as a proud Barry resident and longtime fan of the show.
“The show brought a real sense of magic to Barry during filming. However, I had no idea that our products would appear on the show. When I saw our ‘Sebon Dwylo’ behind Smithy in the bathroom, I let out a little scream!
“It was an honor to see our luxury Welsh hand wash showcased on a show that is loved by viewers around the world. Seeing the increased interest in our product online is the icing on the cake. “
Since launching in 2018, The Goodwash Company has built a reputation for its sustainable, vegan, and cruelty-free products. The company invests profits back into Welsh communities and charitable causes. The Business Wales Accelerated Growth Program (AGP) has supported the growth of the company, helping the quality of the product continuously.
Brand exposure to Gavin and Stacey increased sales by 20% and improved the visibility of its bilingual brand. Looking ahead, Goodwash Company is poised to capitalize on this growing interest. Mandy added:
“We are committed to celebrating Welsh culture, and the Welsh language is part of our brand, reflected in our packaging and messaging. The increased visibility and uptick in sales has been good for us, and we are proud to put ethical Welsh products on the map.
“We plan to expand our online marketing efforts, increase our presence on TikTok, and explore exciting new partnerships. We are confident that we can build on this momentum to reach more customers around the world.”
