A recall notice has been issued for around 60,000 cans of the Wawa-branded drink after a number of accidents were reported in the brand’s metal containers.
Thursday’s notice from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission warned that the metal straw inside the branch “could cut your mouth and/or fingers, posing a fracture hazard.”
So far it has been reported that four people were injured in the hand and mouth.
The commission is urging consumers to immediately stop using metal containers and contact Illinois-based Halo Branding Solutions, the container’s distributor, for a silicone replacement. If the customer would like to return the tumbler, they can get a $15 refund in the form of a gift card.

Affected consumers should not attempt to return the tumblers to Wawa stores, Thursday’s notice notes. More information on how to participate is on the Halo website.
The recalled pods were sold only in Wawa stores across Alabama, Washington, DC, Delaware, Florida, North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Maryland in August of this year. The 24-ounce drinkware came in four different styles.

Pennsylvania-based Wawa maintains that it has not had a Halo recall in its stores since mid-August and noted that more than 5,400 units have been sold.
