Walmart CFO John David Rainey says it was a ‘great quarter’ for the company on ‘The Claman Countdown.’
Walmart announced Tuesday that it will deliver drugs from stores directly to customers as it competes with rivals such as Amazon.
The Arkansas-based retailer joins a list of companies including Amazon, CVS and Walgreens that have embraced the practice of delivering orders directly to consumers who have become increasingly reliant on e-commerce.

Walmart’s service works for both new prescriptions and prescription refills, according to the retailer. All medicines – without some exceptions – will be available in this service, too.

Customers will be able to receive their delivery as soon as 30 minutes with the company’s express delivery option.
The new pharmacy delivery service has been launched in six states – Arkansas, Missouri, New York, Nevada, South Carolina, and Wisconsin – and is expected to be available in 49 states by the end of January 2025.
The company said its nearly 4,600 pharmacy-enabled retail locations across the US allow home delivery in over 86% of cases.

“We understand that health care is not a one-size-fits-all solution. It’s a universal thing. Each community has unique needs. This new offering allows us to continue to serve customers while providing more time to return to our pharmacies for higher scores. contact health services,” said Kevin Host, senior vice president of pharmacy at Walmart US, in a statement.
The company launched this service after receiving feedback from a large number of customers who wanted their prescriptions delivered along with groceries and other essentials in one online order.

The program appears to be trying to compete with services like Amazon Pharmacy, which offers same-day delivery to prime members but only in certain states. Currently, Amazon Pharmacy same-day delivery is available in Austin, Indianapolis, Greater Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Orlando, Phoenix, and Seattle. Drone delivery is available in College Station, Texas.
It takes anywhere between one and four days in some states.
Some companies like CVS and Walgreens also have prescription delivery options.
The companies also compete with Mark Cuban’s online pharmacy Cost Plus Drugs, which also ships directly to the patient’s door.
