If Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua fought this year in 2025, who would win?
The rivalry between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua is one that has been around for years, but it has always existed outside the ring and in theory. Long ago, Fury was the WBC and lineal world heavyweight champion, Joshua was the joint IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion, and the expectation is that the two will have an inevitable fight for the undisputed heavyweight champion. However, that did not happen.
Currently, Fury and Joshua are both showing signs of decline. Joshua has a 6-4 record in his last 10 fights, including a loss to Andy Ruiz Jr, two losses to reigning heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, and most recently a loss to Daniel Dubois. Fury is coming off back to back losses, the only 2 losses of his professional career, both against Usyk. In the end, neither Fury nor Joshua proved to be the best this season. Instead it was Oleksandr Usyk who won the division, and he did it in impressive fashion, becoming the first undefeated world heavyweight champion in the current 4-belt era following his first of two victories over Fury.
As for Usyk, his next logical opponent would be the winner of the upcoming fight between Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker. However, the winner of that fight may have a much bigger payday opportunity than Usyk if he fends off Fury, or especially Joshua. In short, if you think the winner of Dubois-Parker will face Usyk next, a fight between Fury and AJ makes a lot of sense for both Fury and Joshua.
The truth of the matter is that even though neither of them is a champion, and even though both have moved on, a fight between Fury and Joshua remains an exciting prospect with lasting results for both heavyweights. And it would undoubtedly be a big event where both fighters would be in line for the big bucks.
