Urgent calls to pass the “Teen Pregnancy Prevention Bill Now!

“The passage of the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Bill” is an urgent appeal by nearly four hundred civil society organizations and government agencies that have created this Senate, as the country’s teen pregnancy problem remains high.
The bill aims to protect Filipino children and youth through accurate, age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate sexuality education in schools and communities.
Easy access to information and resources, including contraceptives; access to well-trained health workers, and social protection, are among the other solutions the bill aims to provide.
“If we pass this bill, we are taking care of children aged 10 to 14, we are taking care of 15 to 19-year-olds, and we are facing an economic loss of P33 billion due to teenage pregnancy,” Myline Mirasol Quiray. , head, information management and communications unit of the Human Resources and Development Commission.
