Travis Kelce‘s character is finally introduced The Grotesquerie – but who are you kidding?

In the third episode, which aired on Wednesday, October 2, Lois (Niecy Nash) leaving the hospital when he met the orderly.

“Ed Lachlan. But you can call me Eddie,” said Kelce, 34, as he introduced himself to the hit FX series. “Something tells me when you’re done with your smoke break, you’re going to want to get out of here. But I don’t blame you.”

Kelce’s character continues to flirt with Lois while warning her not to drive drunk, adding, “You’re either weirdly cute or pretty weird. I can’t find it but I really want to. [That pick-up line works] only if it is true.”

Ed warns Lois that she’s “not allowed out of there” before going to the hospital. He later ends up in an accident while driving, which quickly reunites him with Ed. In a scene straight out of a rom-com, Ed then helps Lois out of the hospital and the two leave in a red convertible.

It remains to be seen whether Ed is real – or just Lois’ imagination – as he continues to drink heavily in this week’s episodes of The Grotesquerie. He reappears in episode four to take Lois to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting before sharing his experience with drug abuse – and how he got knocked down. Lois then asks to take care of her daughter later in the episode.

The Grotesquerie marked Kelce’s first acting game after breaking out as a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. Kelce will also host an upcoming game show for Prime Video Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? and has a role in Happy Gilmore 2.

Fans were initially given little information about Kelce’s involvement in the game.

“Right now, I’m taking it one place at a time and trying to make sure I remember my words. Like I said, I’m surprised at this,” Travis said in his and his brother’s Jason Kelce‘s “New Heights” podcast about the opportunity in May. “I hope I’m not blowing this up.” [Ryan]. It sounds like everything is going as planned, I can’t thank him enough for this opportunity because I’m sure there are actors who have been in the role of acting who would die for the opportunity to work with Ryan, and I’m entering, of course, my first gig. So it’s very different and very good.”

Travis joked that he has a “big role” in the show.

“The big difference between being outside the world of acting and starting to enter it, is that you are more in tune with the scenes. You don’t want to get too caught up in the line, you want to be in the scene with whoever you’re acting with, right?” he added. “I started thinking, ‘Man, just memorize your lines. Memorize your lines.’ But [the] the truth of the matter is you want to be able to take that incident from one point to another and express exactly what the meaning of the incident is.”

Travis’ The Grotesquerie The costars had nothing but praise after working with him. Micaela Diamond he remembered the athlete who comes to the “game” to work on the program, he said only Us Weekly in September, “We were all like, ‘Let’s do a TV show.’ That is something Niecy [Nash] he said so. Part of this is just for fun. We’re just playing again [Travis] it can do that.”

Diamond called Travis a dedicated “team player” on set. “This was my first big TV show and it was his,” he added. “So we were in it together trying to immerse ourselves as much as we could and be inspired by the veteran actors around us and listen and respond.”

Raven Goodwinon the other hand, he refers to Travis as a “big guy.”

“Everybody [on set] it was FaceTiming their kids like, ‘Look who I’m with,’” he recalled Us. “But he was kind and sweet and kind and very tall.”

The Grotesquerie airs on FX Wednesdays at 10 pm ET. New episodes stream on Hulu the next day.
