According to the Railway Board, no injuries have been reported so far in the train collision, which occurred at the Ponneri-Kavarapettai power station in the Chennai Rail Division.
“We have received information about Bagmati Express colliding with a freight train at Kavarapettai station in Chennai Division. A rescue team has reached the accident site immediately,” said Chief Public Information Officer Dilip Kumar in a video released. immediately after the incident.
The Mysuru-Dibrugarh Express train (Train No. 12578) passed through Ponneri station at 8:27 pm on October 11, and despite receiving a green signal, the train wrongly turned into a siding while entering Kavarapettai station, according to Southern Railway, another of areas used by Indian Railways.
