Tired Sinner Returns to Djokovic, Aims for Reset

Sinner stopped Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-7(0), 6-4 to reach his first Six Kings Slam final four days after the top-ranked Italian defeated the Grand Slam king 7-6(4 ). , 6-3 in the Rolex Shanghai Masters final.
Defending against fatigue and Djokovic, Sinner kept his composure to extend his winning streak today.
“I think we played the final in Shanghai a few days ago,” said Sinner. “I feel like we were both tired of making a few mistakes, but we both tried to hang in there.
“This game can change very quickly. I had a few overheads, but he made some very good shots as well [I was] I’m just trying to reset as soon as possible.”
Sinner, who has become the first Italian to defend the ATP season-ending world No. 1 ranking, will play for a tennis record $6 million on Saturday’s payday. That’s about $2.5 million more than the $3.6 million championship check collected by winning the US Open last month.
Today’s victory sends Sinner into Saturday’s final against reigning Roland Garros and Wimbledon winner Alcaraz or 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal, who faces Olympic doubles partner Alcaraz in tonight’s final.
“Let’s see what comes on Saturday, hopefully it will be a good game,” said Sinner. “That’s why we’re all here. I hope it’s going to be good.”
