Both Abby and Matt agreed that they “were going to boycott Father’s Day in June,” because of the number of the previous year, and decided to celebrate the event in September since “nothing happens in September.”

The high school sweethearts have become familiar with controversy over the years, and they drew criticism again in September 2024 when they revealed that they would have dinner with friends while their children slept in the family room. “So we ended up taking them for five nights and it was obvious they weren’t enjoying it so we weren’t either,” Abby wrote in an Instagram Story at the time. “So, THEN we changed our dinner time to AFTER their bedtime and FaceTIMED the monitors while we ate. And that worked out much better for everyone!”

This post was met with disapproval from many people, despite being told by the source Us Weekly that the families on the cruise “had rooms next to each other and took turns being there,” adding that the children, “were never alone and the use of baby monitors was an additional warning.”

Abby and Matt married in July 2019 before welcoming their sons. Since becoming parents, the podcast hosts have shared their relationships and the ups and downs of parenting through their podcast and social media.
