American Airlines match status: How Delta, United and Southwest elite members can work

If you hold high status with Delta Air Lines, United Airlines or Southwest Airlines, American Airlines offers to match your status for at least four months so you can earn status in a different loyalty program without having to start over.
Called Instant Status Pass, American AAdvantage’s loyalty program will be similar to the following programs:
Flight plan | The status year is valid until | Match with Advantage gold | Compare with ADvantage Platinum | Compare with Advantage Platinum Pro | Compare ADvantage Executive Platinum |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Delta Air Lines SkyMiles | January 2025 | Silver Medal | Gold medal | Platinum Medallion | Diamond Medal |
United Airlines MileagePlus | January 2025 or 2026 | Prime Minister Silver | Premier Gold | Premier Platinum | Prime Minister 1K |
Southwest Airlines Instant Rewards | December 2024 or 2025 | A List | A-Preference List |
This status match is provided free of charge and can be entered online through American’s contact page by selecting “AAdvantage account service” and “Match Status (other airlines).”
You must submit a screenshot of your SkyMiles, MileagePlus or Rapid Rewards account with your 2024 status progress and current expiration date (check the submission page for specific requirements for each matched status).

Bottom line
This is a unique and potentially lucrative American Airlines offer for Delta, United and Southwest elite members. You can match your elite status online for free to try the same Advantage status for four months. However, to extend the status, you must earn more Loyalty Points by flying, spending money on the right credit card or other partner activities.
