The US says drones have been spotted near its military bases in England Military Affairs

The US Air Force said the drones did not appear to be ‘hostile’ and had no impact.

Aircraft and drones have been spotted near three military bases in Britain but have not yet been identified as hostile, the US Air Force (USAF) said.

In a statement on Tuesday, the air force said the incidents occurred on Monday and night.

“[We] can only confirm that the number [of drones] fluctuated and varied between bases at night,” a USAF Europe spokesperson said in a statement.

The statement added that there was no impact on the residents of military facilities or infrastructure, adding that the drones “have not been identified as hostile”.

“However, they are still being closely monitored to ensure the safety and security of the installation,” he added.

An American official who spoke to the Reuters news agency, who did not want to be named, said that drones do not seem to be used by people who fly drones as a hobby because the aircraft seems to be very cooperative.

The official added that despite the initial analysis, it is too early to say who might be responsible.

‘bad’ plan

A spokesman for the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defense said the country was taking the threats seriously and was supporting the USAF.

The British news agency PA Media also reported that the British military was mobilized to help the USAF find out who made these flights.

According to the British newspaper The Times, which cited a UK military source, there were concerns that the drones could be part of a “sinister” plot.

As of Wednesday, US military bases at RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk and RAF Feltwell in Norfolk reported sightings of drones in the area.

Mildenhall is home to the USAF’s 100th Air Refueling Wing. Lakenheath is home to its F-35A and F-15E jets, and Feltwell is home to USAF logistics and troops.
