The US embassy in Lebanon is urging Americans there to ‘book any available ticket’ on the few remaining flights

Director of the National Defense Heritage Center Robert Greenway discusses how the Pentagon is sending more US troops to the Middle East as tensions between Hezbollah and Israel escalate on ‘Evening Program.’
The US ambassador to Lebanon is warning Americans there to “book any available ticket” on a dwindling number of flights from the country as fighting between Israel and Hezbollah escalates rapidly.
In a warning issued on Tuesday, the Embassy said “many airlines have suspended or canceled flights, and many flights have been cancelled; however, limited means of transport out of Lebanon are still available.
“We urge those who wish to leave Lebanon to book any ticket available to them, even if that flight does not take off immediately or does not follow the route they chose first,” the Ambassador warned.
“We recommend that American citizens who choose not to leave Lebanon prepare emergency emergency plans and be prepared for long-term shelter,” it added.

The warning comes as Israeli forces and the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah increasingly trade rockets along the Israel-Lebanon border.
Last week, two days of pager and walkie-talkie blasts targeting Hezbollah members prompted Lebanese officials to block the devices from boarding flights from Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport, according to reports.

“U.S. military-assisted evacuations of citizens from a foreign country are rare. U.S. citizens should not rely on the U.S. government for assistance with travel or emergency evacuation,” it added. “In the case of evacuation, you may not be able to travel with your extended family, you may not be able to take your pets, and you are expected to reimburse the US government for your travel to a safe place.”
Airlines have been canceling flights to Lebanon as the security situation there has worsened.
