The situation in Gaza is a ‘horror movie,’ says the head of a Norwegian NGO

The situation in the northern Gaza Strip is like a “dystopian horror movie” and has just gotten worse, according to the head of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC).

During a recent visit, Jan Egeland drove to “endless places with completely destroyed houses.” Despite this, people are still stuck there, he told German news website Zeit Online.

Aid deliveries are often looted, said Egeland, who witnessed this firsthand at the Kerem Shalom border near the southern coastal city of Rafah.

“Maybe 100 men were standing there with sticks, waiting to stop the trucks coming behind us and jump on them,” he said.

Published on Saturday, Egeland’s comments come as Israeli forces crack down on the Palestinian terror group Hamas in Gaza.

In Rafah and the refugee districts of Jabaliya and Beit Lahia in the north, a number of terrorists were killed, positions were destroyed and weapons were dug up, military officials said.

According to Palestinian reports, at least 35 people have been killed since Friday. The information provided by both parties could not be independently verified.
