Like De La Salle University (DLSU) and the University of the Philippines (UP) on the men’s side, reigning champion University of Santo Tomas (UST) similarly scheduled the final day with the former and undefeated National University (NU) in the women’s basketball finals after the game 71-59. win over Adamson University on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Santo Tomas and NU, who advanced to the best-of-three finals with a 14-0 sweep of the two-round qualifiers, kicked off their heated rivalry Sunday before the La Salle-UP contest in the men’s division at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. .
The Tigresses broke the Lady Bulldogs’ seven-year reign last year with a thrilling three-game series win marked by a 71-69 victory in the decider.
Team Legend member Kent Pastrana stamped his class with 23 points, including 13 in the first half, 16 rebounds and eight assists for a triple-double performance.
Ms. Pastrana added two steals and a block in just 29 minutes of play, CJ Maglupay scored 13 points and Tacky Tacatac and Brigette Santos contributed 10 each.
“It’s all a team effort and at the end of the day, our defense decided the game, especially in the second half,” said coach Haydee Ong.
Santo Tomas, despite starting hot, went out 25-11 in the second half and trailed 35-37 at halftime before holding Adamson to just 22 points.
Elaine Etang and Oluwakemi Adeshina scored 12 points apiece in an impressive bronze medal finish for the Lady Falcons coached by former Falcon Ryan Monteclaro.
In high school basketball, Eastern University knocked off national champion Nazareth School, 85-64, to advance to the finals as No. 3 Santo Tomas forced a playoff game against No. 2 Far Eastern Diliman another semi-final pairing, 84-75. – John Bryan Ulanday
