The International Innovation Awards (IIA) 2024 gives InnoCube to 51 new techniques

As technology advances at an unprecedented pace with AI at the forefront, an important question arises: How can humans and AI coexist harmoniously while upholding principles of integrity and morality?

Title ‘Promoting Integrity in Entrepreneurship’, 8^th The International Innovation Awards (IIA) aims to answer this important question. Held at W Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Nov. 29, 2024, the event honored 51 innovations, promoting a future where innovation and ethics go hand in hand.

Since 2017, Enterprise Asia’s Innovation Revolution organization has been driving innovation across the region. The International Innovation Awards (IIA), the organization’s flagship, recognizes outstanding innovations, and in the process, encourages organizations to continue investing in innovation. This year’s event brought together inventors from different countries around the world.

IIA 2024 kicked off with a heartwarming welcome address from Enterprise Asia Vice-Chairman, Datuk William Ng. “Innovation without integrity risks destroying trust, while integrity without innovation is dangerous. But when joined together, they have the potential to create meaningful, sustainable development that benefits not only businesses but society as a whole,” he said, highlighting the importance of incorporating ethical principles and accountability when making innovations to shape a better future for everyone.

The awards program received submissions from global participants, from more than 19 countries and markets such as China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United Kingdom. Countries and Vietnam, to name just a few. A rigorous selection process, involving a distinguished panel of judges, narrowed down more than 200 applications in three categories: Product, Service & Solution, and Organization & Culture.

Organizations recognized with the attractive ‘InnoCube’ award in the Product Category include Sinox Company Ltd. from Taiwan with its Sinox Locking Kickstand, a smart e-bike safety solution; One Venture Co., Ltd. from Thailand’s Happy Noz: Organic Runny Nose Relief Patch; and Dow, Inc. from China for Dowsil 650+ Protective Peelable Coating.

Winners under the Service and Solution category include companies such as DEWA of the United Arab Emirates for its Albunya Alraqameya Enterprise Architecture; PwC of the United Kingdom (PricewaterhouseCoopers International Limited) PwC’s Next Generation Audit Data Capabilities: Discovery Hub and Data Pro; again Ace Edulink Co., Ltd. from Taiwan for the ACE Teaching Plus app, which is allows teachers to deliver lessons seamlessly and efficiently in one shared application.

Winners under the Society and Culture category include Thai Smile Bus Co., Ltd. from Thailand with its ‘Together We Can Make the World Better’ program, which ensures a customer focussed approach; Taiwanese Far Eastern Big City Shopping Malls Co., Ltd. and ‘The Big City: Its Art Hub and Art Health’; and AIA Bhd.’s ‘Agility Unleashed: Transform Culture at Scale in AIA Malaysia’.

The pre-award event, the International Innovation Summit (IIS) 2024 took place earlier in the day. Themed ‘The Personalization of AI in Business’, the conference explored how AI can be used to create meaningful, human-centric business practices. The secretary-general of the Digital Malaysia department, YBhg. Fabian Bigar, kicked off the conference with a thought-provoking keynote on how AI can improve customer experience and promote responsible business practices. He also announced the establishment of the National AI Office (NAIO) by the Government of Malaysia, which will be launched in December 2024. The NAIO will develop AI policy, promote AI innovation, and advance research into next-generation AI technologies.

Other speakers at the conference include Jakkris Tangkuampien, Corporate Innovation Trainer for Ekipa Consultancy; Datuk (Dr.) Nora Manaf, Former Group Chief Human Capital Officer in Maybank; Makoto Shibata, Head of FINOLAB and Chief Community Officer; and Dr. Maria Singson, IBM Vice President of APAC Technology & Customer Success.
