The Death of the Unicorn trailer brings the mythical creature into a dark comedy

A24’s 2025 film lineup is starting to pile up – with fantastical creatures, that is. While it’s a fun adventure The Legend of Ochi expected to hit theaters next February, a dark comedy Death of a Unicorn it will be out in the spring. And you can get a feel for it in the brand new trailer above.

The film follows a father and daughter (Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega) who drive to a weekend retreat, and accidentally kill an animal…which happens to be a unicorn. From then on, it seems that the wealthy father’s boss (Richard E. Grant) and his family can’t help but see ways to use the creature’s magical powers to make a profit. While the vibe is light and funny at first, things don’t just get dark, but turn to horror by the end of the trailer.

Death of a Unicorn is the directorial debut of Alex Scharfman, and also stars Will Poulter, Sunita Mani, and Téa Leoni. Genetics director Ari Aster serves as producer, while horror legend John Carpenter.
