Will Elon Musk launch Trump’s election?

Leah Feiger: So Trump singles out Musk, calling him a really incredible guy. Musk jumps into the air on stage, in what is honestly one of the worst images I’ve seen on the internet this year, and Musk addresses the crowd for a few minutes. What do you say? Talk to us about that.
Vittoria Elliott: It’s been such an opportunity since 2020 when there’s all this suspicion about incoming votes, about early voting. Now all of a sudden we’re hearing, “Make sure you’re registered to vote, vote early, do this, do that, get everyone you know to vote.” There’s this, really, really big get-out-the-vote thing, and that’s what Elon was. When the assassin’s bullet grazed Trump’s ear, he stood up and said: “Fight, fight, fight.” And Musk very consciously said, “Vote, vote, vote.” And everyone in the crowd immediately saw that it was like—
Leah Feiger: I mean, he drew it. Yes.
Vittoria Elliott: People were really into that, and one of the things that Musk said that got a big reaction from the people I was directly in was, “The second—”
Elon Musk [Archival audio]: The Second Amendment exists to ensure that we have the First Amendment.
Vittoria Elliott: He was there to beat the soldiers, talk to the true believers, push, push, push the voters, because I think my sense of the way the MAGA organization is right now is that they understand what the Biden team is doing. understand in 2020 that it is not about converting new people, it is about integrating people who are already in your group. He said, “This election is the most important election in our lifetime.” It’s quite normal. I think I’ve heard every politician say that in the last 20 years, but then he said, “You have to bring everyone you know to vote. If they don’t do that it will be—”
Elon Musk [Archival audio]: This will be the last election. That’s my prediction. Nothing is more important, nothing is more important.
Vittoria Elliott: I once again found out that other people repeated that to me when I left the rally, and that thing he publicly said to X, even before coming to this rally. Many times when Musk speaks publicly or is interviewed, he will delete some of the comments he broadcasts online. If we think back to Don Lemon’s interview, where he tackled the big takeover theory, he caught that a little bit.
