Terrified passengers exit emergency slides after vape explodes on plane: ’caused panic’
Panicked passengers on a UK flight were forced to make an emergency descent after a vape pen allegedly exploded on their flight, filling the air with smoke.
An EasyJet flight was preparing to take off from Heraklion Airport in Greece to Gatwick, London, on Tuesday when a bag believed to contain electronic cigarettes and a power bank in a passenger’s bag suddenly exploded, according to multiple reports.
Malachi Griffith said he was on flight EZY8261 when he heard “swooshing noises” and a girl running with a bag blowing smoke.

“I could smell and see smoke coming toward us from the front of the plane, so I asked my dad, ‘Is this the system?'” Griffith told Storyful. “Then a girl came down the corridor with a bag, smoke came out, then there was a noise, which was the sound of flames, which caused panic.”
A video taken by Griffith shows him exiting the slide with his father. In another photo, ground workers can be seen helping people off the slide while one woman leans over with her hands on her knees. All 236 passengers were evacuated.
An EasyJet spokesperson tells Fox News Digital that flight EZY8216 was evacuated during take-off before departure “due to a fire in a passenger cabin bag.”

“The fire brigade attended the plane and the morgue workers took the plane out following the procedures,” said the spokesperson.
“Customers were cared for at the airport while another flight and crew were arranged to take customers home the same day. Safety is our number one priority.”
The company did not say what caused the bag to catch fire.
Later, the passengers were allowed to return to the plane to collect his belongings and the ground had already burned down, according to the Daily Mail.

The store reports that no passengers were injured in the explosion, although one passenger was burned by the slide.
European passengers are allowed to take e-cigarette devices on planes, and are prohibited from recharging them while in flight, according to the European Union Aviation Safety Agency.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) also allows smoking electronic devices in carry-on luggage as long as the batteries are removed.
