Teofimo Lopez Blasts “Punk” Haney
Teofimo Lopez told Devin Haney that he is thinking about his March 25 fight, calling him “punk b***” on social media. WBO light welterweight champion Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) seems upset with Devin for not accepting the fight offer.
The offer was $2.4 million and a 55-45 split in favor of Teofimo, who feels he deserves a bigger cut because he is “the king” of the 140-lb division. Haney is a former champion, coming off a knockout of Ryan Garcia on April 20.
Wolves Circle Haney
Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) will next fight on March 25th at BLT Prime against an opponent yet to be announced. The boxing community will be very excited to see who Haney faces that day because he can choose anyone.
Fighters aren’t afraid to fight Haney after how Garcia exposed him in a 12-round decision win. He looked so bad in that defeat to Kingry that the 140 wolves surrounded him, seeing him as easy prey. One of the wolves is Teofimo. He knows a wounded deer when he sees one.
Many believe Ryan Garcia it’s broken Haney, and is no longer considered elite or A-level. His decision to fight BLT Prime next on March 25th furthers the fan belief that Devin is mentally and physically disturbed.
Devin was hit three times in that fight, and many believe that the referee saved him from being ejected in the seventh round by stopping the action of taking a point from Ryan with a stoppage.
Teo had the courage to try to give something to someone else but he was out there begging. I make real MONEY

At that point, Haney was about to be taken out by Garcia. Given that the New York State Athletic Commission later overturned Haney’s loss, it wouldn’t have mattered if Ryan had kicked him out.
Teofimo is slated to fight former IBF 140-lb champion Subriel Matias (21-2, 21 KOs) on March 15 on ESPN+ on a promoted Super Heavyweight card. Lopez has had a hard time getting big names to fight him.
He named Terence Crawford, Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, Haney, Ryan Garcia, and Gervonta Davis. Interested in fighting Lopez are lightweight contenders Keyshawn Davis and Matias. He is not willing to fight Keyshawn because he is not a star.
