Among the many headliners taking part in the event are three Americans who recently wowed the US Open audience at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York and on television around the world: finalist Taylor Fritz, semifinalist Frances Tiafoe and youngster Ben Shelton.
The American stars and the rest of Team World will face a successful European team that includes four-time major singles champion Carlos Alcarez, 2021 US Open winner Daniil Medvedev and singles World No. 2 Alexander Zverev. This is the seventh Laver Cup tournament, held every year since 2017 except for 2020 during the COVID-19 crisis. This three-day event rotates annually between locations in Europe and around the world.
Tennis Channel will offer 22 hours of live coverage of the Laver Cup in 2024, and close to 60 in total with key replays each day. The air team includes several former players, including Hall of Famer Jim Courier, Jason Goodall, Mark Petchey, Leif Shiras and Mark Knowles.
The Laver Cup, named after legendary Australian player Rod Laver, brings together star captained teams in one of the sport’s most famous tournaments. John McEnroe will lead Team World against his long-time rival, friend and Team Europe captain Bjorn Borg. Both Hall of Famers are on their teams’ bases for the seventh and final time.
McEnroe’s vice-captain is his brother, Patrick, and Borg’s is Thomas Enqvist. Fritz, Tiafoe and Shelton are joined on Team World by Alejandro Tabilo from Chile, Francisco Cerundolo from Argentina and Thanasi Kokkinakis from Australia.
Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov, Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas and Norway’s Casper Ruud round out Team Europe’s roster.
