The Broadway star, 53, shared his thoughts on the rapper’s arrest on the Thursday, September 26 episode of the podcast, “Entertainment Legends with Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson.”
“I felt so stupid when I heard all those things because I was… I don’t know where I was, but it all blinded me,” Diggs said.
Diggs added that on the one hand he was happy with the news but was disappointed at the same time that Diddy, 54, was not reaching the level he thought the music star was.
“It’s a twofold thing for me because on the other hand, I’m like, this is good for people to know that this is happening,” explained Diggs. “We can think that life should be lived in a certain way, we can think that a person is a certain way and can be very different and get used to that, you know?”
Diggs also admitted his disappointment after hearing about the allegations against someone he once considered a role model.

All the things I wasn’t, growing up, he was,” said Diggs. “He had a lot of confidence and arrogance that I loved and he made being Black good. I come from a place where we had to question everything and ‘I’m black, therefore, I will be treated like this’. I looked at him and he wore it like a badge, you know what I’m saying? I actually put him in the top and it was disappointing to see what happened. I couldn’t believe it. And I didn’t like that feeling.”
Diddy was arrested earlier this month on charges of sex trafficking, conspiracy to traffic and transportation to engage in prostitution. According to the 14-page indictment, which cites Diddy’s famous groups as evidence, the rapper allegedly “harassed, intimidated and coerced women and others around him” for decades. Diddy was also accused of using these acts to fulfill his “sexual desires, protect his reputation and hide his behavior.”
Diddy denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty to the charges before a judge denied his bail application. Diddy was then sent back to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn until his trial.
“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is the unfair prosecution of Mr. Combs is the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” Diddy’s attorney. Marc Agnifilo he told Us Weekly in the statement. “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music legend, self-made businessman, loving family man and proven pirate who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, loving his children and working to uplift the Black community. He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal.”
