Tata Group honors Ratan Tata; remembering a visionary leader and philanthropist

Air India, Air India Express and Vistara on Thursday announced a flight in memory of Tata Son Emeritus Chairman, Ratan Tata. A source of the airline said that the announcement was made for all Tata Group airlines.
Ratan Tata, 86, breathed his last on Wednesday night at a Mumbai hospital.
In an internal communication to all employees of Air India, Campbell Wilson, CEO of Air India said, “Dear Air Indians, it is with great sadness that we have received the news of the passing away of Tata Son Emeritus Chairman, Mr. Ratan Tata. In addition to the many extensive and valuable contributions that our Chairman Mr. N Chandrasekaran has highlighted, Air Indians are very thankful and grateful for the great contribution of Mr. Tata to Indian aviation and Tata airlines and all those affected by the passing of Mr.
Passengers traveling on Air India flights recorded videos of the Inflight announcements and posted them on social media.
Recommendations have been issued from leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Chief Ministers of all countries.
The Gujarat government has announced one day of mourning in respect of Ratan Tata today. The national flag will be flown at half-mast and no government cultural or entertainment program will be held today.
The Maharashtra government has announced one day of fasting.
Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus, Tata Sons, passed away at the age of 86 on Wednesday night at Breach Candy Hospital in the city.
Ratan Tata, born on December 28, 1937, in Mumbai, was the Chairman of the Ratan Tata Trust and the Dorabji Tata Trust, two of the largest independent philanthropic trusts in India.
He was the Chairman of Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group, from 1991 until his retirement in 2012. He was then appointed Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons. He was honored with the country’s second highest award, the Padma Vibhushan, in 2008.
