Tank surprised fans today by announcing that 2025 will be his in the game, as he will be retiring at the end of the year. He says he will fight three times next year and hangs up the gloves. Therefore, Honorable Turki will set up a fight between Tank and Shakur; it should happen next year,
Turkey’s Master Plan
In order for the Tank-Shakur fight to happen, Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) will need to defeat the undefeated Schofield (18-0, 12 KOs) and #1 Zepeda (32-0, 27 KOs). That’s not exactly sure what won Shakur, who isn’t a puncher and doesn’t seem like he’s designed very smartly in the 135-lb division.
“The situation with Shakur is the same [William] Zepeda is injured. My plan for Shakur is what I want to see in my life. I hope I have time to see it. To Shakur, my plan is this fight [Floyd Schofield]then Zepeda, then we’ll see if Tank wants to be on our show,” Honorable Turki Alalshikh said on Ariel Helwani’s YouTube channel about his interest in matching Shakur Stevenson with Gervonta Davis.
“He officially asked me on social media for two Ferraris. I think two Ferraris are cheaper than what I pay for other fighters. If this is the cost of a fight, why not?” Turki said of Tank Davis previously asking him for two Ferraris before he would consider fighting on one of his cards.
Tank will need to seek out a fight with Shakur because he has tended to shy away from serious fights during his eleven-year professional career. He didn’t fight Vasily Lomachenko or show any interest in fighting Teofimo Lopez or Devin Haney. Tank is already rich and has enough money to last the rest of his life in his luxury apartment in Baltimore. Will he agree to fight Shakur? You’d like to think so, but his evasive record says otherwise.
