Smoke in the crew compartment forces a flight bound for Hawaii to return to Seattle
A temper tantrum in the cockpit of a Hawaii-bound flight forced the plane to return to Seattle airport shortly after takeoff Monday afternoon.
An airline spokesperson told FOX Business that Hawaiian Airlines flight HA21 returned to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport after takeoff due to smoke in the cabin. It was headed to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu.
The captain declared an emergency to receive first aid and the Airbus 330 landed in SEA without incident, the airline said.
Medical personnel and firefighters met the plane at the gate and all 273 passengers and 10 crew members were safely evacuated.

Once the plane was cleared, the Port of Seattle Fire Department went aboard to investigate and found no smoke or odor, airport spokesman Perry Cooper told the Associated Press.
Flight 21 took off from Seattle on Tuesday morning with a new plane.
FOX Business contacted the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for more information.
