Shannon Sharpe Calls Out Zion Williamson: ‘Stop Eating Everything’
After Zion Williamson’s recent skid, ESPN’s Shannon Sharpe shared his candid thoughts on the Pelicans star’s career and gave him a wake-up call.
Zion was suspended for one game after being late for the team flight to Philadelphia and Sharpe thinks the NBA media and NBA fans in general care more about the 24-year-old’s career than he does.
“It has become clear, it has become very clear that most of us want more for Zion than we want for ourselves,” said Sharpe. “And that’s a problem. Zayoni spent a lot of time in court. It happens to be in a shopping mall, it’s a food court. He missed 27 games, it’s not like they started this trip.”
“He knew they were coming out of town, and he was late, and Chris Haynes reported, Willie Green even brought it up,” Sharpe said. “He mentioned that there are things that led to this. You are absolutely right. No one wants to stop a star, a top player, and in general there is no need. Why? Because expert is a word that describes your work. Zion Williamson is a professional basketball player, but he is not a professional, which is how he conducts his business.”
The former NFL player continued to throw shade at Williamson’s diet, because let’s be honest, it wouldn’t be a Zion roast without commenting on his weight.
“Zayoni needs to change the location, no, it needs to change the restaurant,” said Sharpe. “Stop walking and eat everything you see, brother. That’s embarrassing. It’s a shame we’re still having this discussion. You’ve missed half the time you’ve been in the NBA, and you think it’s okay, you think you can force yourself out of moping, whining, missing all this time, showing up late, it’s hard to stay in shape there. you’re a top player and you’re missing time because you’re not running up and down the field, you can’t do what you need to do to lose weight.”
