Schofield Scorns De La Hoya: Accepting Shakur Fight For February 22nd?

Floyd Schofield has sent an email from his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, confirming that his fight with WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson is still on the 22nd of February.
In a post on X, Schofield compared himself to the youth Muhammad Alirevealing that he was 22 when he defeated Sonny Liston in 1964. However, Schofield leaves out that Ali was the 1960 Olympic gold medalist and didn’t struggle to beat ham-and-eggers like he did.
Ali dominated his competition before fighting an aging Liston, who looked much older than his 32 years. In contrast, Schofield walked life and death with Rene Tellez Giron who is not his opponent, he is knocked down by him and he eats a lot. gun in their battle on November 2nd.
Schofield’s objection
In an email, De La Hoya told Schofield Sr. that he believes in his son, Kid Austin, but wants to continue what he is building to hold the world title. He doesn’t want Schofield to take a fight with Shakur (22-0, 10 KOs) and risk getting beaten because of his lack of experience.
At the end of the email, De La Hoya said, “If you tell me, ‘Make it happen,’ I will.”
Schofield then said, “We accept the challenge.”
So, unless De La Hoya refuses to do the Shakur-Schofield fight, it looks like it could happen next on February 22.
Earlier this evening, De La Hoya commented on his Clap Back Thursday that a fight between Shakur will not happen. He blasted Shakur’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, for choosing his 22-year-old prospect, Schofield, over top contenders Frank Martin or Raymond Muratalla.
Interestingly, De La Hoya didn’t mention Edwin De Los Santos, the fighter who gave Shakur BIG problems last year in November, forcing him to run 12 rounds, and land some meaningful punches. De Los Santos exposed Shakur, made him look scared, and showed that he is just a runner at lightweight, who will not stand firm unless his opponents are weak and slow.
This is the message that appears @OscarDeLaHoya It is open @ShakurStevenson … you can’t escape this.

Muhammad Ali was 22 years old when he defeated Sonny Liston in their 1964 heavyweight world title fight. This information is consistent with historical records, as Ali won the title by defeating Liston on February 25, 1964, when he was actually 22 years old. This victory…
