Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson she admires her previous marriage with her ex-husband Prince Andrew.
In a new interview with The Sunday Times published on Saturday, December 14, the Duchess of York, 65, spoke about her relationship with Prince Andrew.
“I was absolutely in love with Andrew,” she told of the early years of her relationship with Andrew, 64. He is the best, a great man with a big heart, and kind. Our wedding was the best day of my life. But I gave up my anonymity that day. I knew it because love conquers all. It is still with us today. I will not embarrass him.”
He continued, “You can support me as I support him. He has supported me through difficult times, not just marriage or divorce. We agree on the three C’s – communication, compromise, compassion. “
Fergie’s interview was conducted before news broke that Andrew was reportedly tied up with a businessman accused of being a Chinese spy. In a statement sent to the BBC on Saturday, the Duke of York said he had “ceased contact” with the man, and that he had met the man “through official channels” and “there was nothing serious. [was] which we have discussed before.”
As for Ferguson, she also reflected on the early days of her relationship with Andrew while speaking to The Sunday Times.
“I first met Andrew when I was 12,” she told the outlet. “My first thought was that I would marry him. Ferguson’s sister, Jane Luedecke, also spoke to the Sunday Times about the former’s relationship.
“Sarah and Andrew are the best divorced couple I know,” Luedecke said. “They did it for their children; it’s amazing. I came to stay at the Royal Lodge in May and boarded with Andrew at Windsor Castle. It was nice to get on a horse and ride around the grounds again.”
Prince Andrew has had a history of controversy and controversy. In October 2019, Andrew was sued by Virginia Roberts Giuffre for sexual harassment. This happened amid the news of his friendship with the late Jeffrey Epstein.
In an interview with BBC Newsnight in November 2019, Andrew denied the allegations, saying “he doesn’t remember ever meeting this lady, no one.” Andrew said, “It never happened.”
