Ring Girl Sydney Thomas Shares Tribute to Late Mother at Thanksgiving
Sydney Thomasthe girl’s ring that got infected at the time Jake Paul–Mike Tyson fight, he honored his late mother with Thanksgiving.
Sydney, 21, shared an old photo of herself standing next to her mom and dad on her Instagram Story on Thursday, November 28, with the caption: “Thankful for my beautiful guardian angel 🪽Missing you this thanking mother 🫶🏽.”
Cheri ThomasSydney’s mother, died in August 2023 of breast cancer. He was 54 years old. Cheri and her husband, Toddhe also shared sons Tyler22, again Austin19.
Throughout her mother’s illness, Sydney was constantly writing messages of support on social media.
“Keep fighting mom, the strongest woman I know,” Sydney captioned a TikTok video posted on August 28, three days before she died.
Sydney spoke at her mother’s memorial service, which she also posted on TikTok.
“I don’t think I can fully describe the influence you have had on who I am today,” Sydney said in her speech. “You have always been my true love. You had an answer to every question and a solution to every problem.”
He added, “Growing up, to this day, my favorite thing was when I met someone who knew you and they said, ‘Wow, you look just like your Mom.’ Even though I just laughed and didn’t say much in response, that was always one of the biggest compliments.”
A dejected Sydney ended her words with, “I love you, Mom. The mark you left on this earth is immeasurable and will live forever.”
Sydney rose to fame overnight after appearing as a ring girl in the Paul-Tyson fight, which aired live on November 15 on Netflix Over time, Sydney has seen a social media following explode, with her TikTok followers now exceeding one million.
In a special interview no Us Weekly After the fight, Sydney admitted that all the attention and popularity was “overwhelming”.
But at the same time, I am blessed and very grateful. You know, what a problem you must have,” added Sydney.
Currently a junior studying management and business at the University of Alabama, Sydney plans to graduate early this spring before putting that degree to the test.
“I think the next thing for me is to continue to build my social media and continue to collaborate [Paul’s] Most Valuable Promotions and being a ring girl,” he said. “I’m thinking of dialing back the ring girl and modeling part of my life and sharing that with my audience that I’m building now.”
