Ricki Lake Details on Losing 40-Lb Weight Without Ozempic: Diet, Exercise
Ricki Lake he says “he is fine [her] best health” after losing 40 pounds without the help of Ozempic or other weight loss drugs.
“I started on October 26, 2023, and I went on this journey,” Lake, 56, reveals exclusively in the latest issue of Us Weekly while promoting his partnership with Stone Road Farms with his Ricki Lake & Bake cannabis line.
I Hairspray The actress explains that she began “following a strict keto diet” that included intermittent fasting and walking outside “every day” in a weighted vest.
As of October 2023, Lake has also been doing Pilates “four days a week,” which has contributed to her 40-pound weight loss and staying fit.
He says: “I did not take any drug because I did not have diabetes,” commenting, “there is nothing wrong with those drugs. They are actually game changers for many people. But for me, I didn’t want to rely on drugs if I could help them.”
Instead of using Ozempic or similar GLP-1 drugs, Lake shares that he created “his own thing” that was “very specific.”
“I was wearing a gluco monitor. I put on my Oura ring [which tracks health data]. I prioritized sleep and everything, a less stressful life. And it worked,” he revealed. “It continues to work.”
Before talking to him UsLake says she did a two-mile walk and took a Pilates class, which is normal for her.
“I took what used to be a tough job, you know, every day I have to work out and get on the elliptical and I hate every minute of it,” the first. Ricki Lake The talk show host continues. “Now it is a privilege and a joy to be able to move my body, without pain, to see the results. [and] to fit my size 4 jeans.”

“I was literally wearing a bathing suit,” she says Us. “I was like, ‘I wonder if I can still pull this off?’ Because I saved it [off] all these years. I loved that bathing suit! And I was like, ‘Oh, my God, I look good!’ In some ways I think I look a lot better than I did then.”
Lake reveals that, “I have been keeping all the clothes since then for 17 years. And I was like, ‘Why am I doing this to myself? I’m in my 50s, I’ll never be in such good shape again.’ And sure enough, they all suit me. In fact, some of them I had to take and make them smaller.”
“It’s exciting. I won’t lie. “It’s the best feeling in the world to do this hard work and be able to feel good in my own skin,” he continued. “To be able to share with the world that I did this. I put my mind to this and look at what I have done. And besides, I’m just healthy. I have strength. And I want to keep feeling this way. “

He admitted during an appearance in December 2010: “Being fat worked, and I think that’s what confused me for a long time in my career. In my teenage years and, you know, later in my teenage years, I grew bigger and bigger. I had very, very bad eating habits.”
That’s when the mother of two children joined Dancing with the Stars in season 13 in 2011, Lake lost more weight. At that time, he only told Us that DWTS he didn’t “feel like working out,” but he was “drenched in sweat” after the workout.
More than ten years later, Lake says Us he continues to make his life his “priority” and gives himself all the tools to succeed. “I don’t go out at night like my friends. I have DJ friends, they’ll go out at midnight, and I’m like, ‘I’m so sorry. I can’t get there,’” he said with a laugh. “I was sleeping when I passed, like, 8pm”
The former talk show host says she goes to bed early and wakes up to exercise before sunrise. “I walk every day, weather permitting. But even if it rains, I’m here [at the] dawn with my dog and often with my husband,” she adds.
Lake notes that the past year has been a “mental shift” where working out is no longer “hard work” but rather “something I love to do.”
He gets angry: “I like to slow down and look at nature and move my body, make my heart beat higher, sweat.”
Actress – funny Us that she’s working on a lifestyle cookbook documenting her health journey – she’s also turned to marijuana to relax and avoid added sugar.
Last month, Lake announced her partnership with Stone Road Farms in California for her Ricki Lake & Bake products, available in stores locally.
“Obviously, I believe in this drug, and in the Stone Road lineup and what they’ve built,” Lake said in a press release in December 2024. “It’s very much in line with where I’m at in my life, and I’m very happy to express this.”
Besides planting his weeds, Lake tells Us she drinks marijuana at night with her husband, Ross Burninghambefore going to bed.
“It’s low in calories. “Wine has sugar and calories,” he explained. “I recently lost weight, and I’m making it a priority to keep everything in shape. I prefer my marijuana drink, which is 40 calories. And then you get that great buzz.”
