Revisiting One Direction’s Best Performances From The X Factor UK

One Direction gave Us some great works that are memorable in their time IX Factor UK.
After being selected as singles, Harry styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik again Niall Horan they were brought together as a group and soon had teenage heartbreak. After a few moving songs as they learned to work together, the band easily advanced through the competition and eventually finished in third place. Counselor Simon Cowell signed the group to his record label after the 2010 season of the reality show – and the rest is history.
One Direction released five albums – the last one, in 2015 Done in the AMwas produced without Malik – before announcing their suspension. Payne, Styles, Tomlinson and Horan return IX Factor UK in December 2015 to perform “Infinity” and “History” in their first televised performance. (The group appears Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve later that month.)
After officially going on hiatus in 2016, each band member pursued solo projects. Tragedy later struck the 1D fandom when Payne died in October 2024 at the age of 31. He was honored in a statement on the show that gave him his big break.
“We are saddened by the passing of Liam Payne,” read a message on social media IX Factor UK. “He was incredibly talented and, as part of One Direction, Liam will leave a lasting legacy on the music industry and fans around the world. Our thoughts are with his friends, family and all who loved him.”

‘Sad’

After being put together at boot camp, One Direction performed as a group for the first time during the judges’ house. Tomlinson went through a “horrible” sea urchin injury to sing alongside her new co-stars. The five young men were tall with gray hair as they walked out with the belt Natalie Imbruglia‘s “Torn,” which they finally did again during the season finale.
‘Viva La Vida’

Old Coldplay was the group’s first live performance IX Factor to play, and although their harmony was a little shaky on stage, the youngsters were nothing if not enthusiastic. From Styles and Payne’s perfectly synchronized shoulder giggles to Horan’s never-ending smile, it’s clear that One Direction are happy to be there.
‘My life will be better without you’

What is more than 2010 Kelly Clarkson? During their week 2 performance, the band seemed to have a firm grasp on their sound – and are still rocking it with all their might. Their stage style, however, was not yet unified.
‘Total Blackout’

Despite the harsh criticism that comes Louis WalshOne Direction kept their heads high during the 4th week. The band took the theme of the Halloween episode to heart, taking the stage under blue and green lights and eerie fog. Their looks were completed with red eye makeup and fake blood as they delivered an epic performance Bonnie Tyler a power ballad.
‘America’s Children’

Pyrotechnics, cheerleaders and lots of red, white and blue made this week 5 performance unforgettable. This may be the first time Tomlinson sports what became a trademark of his style later in 1D’s career: baggy red pants.
‘Summer of 69’

By week 8, the band had fully utilized their charm and knew how to perform on stage. The audience clapped along Bryan Adams hit, and the boys were joined by dancers wearing red, white and green clothes. Although the voice of this group has increased at this time in this competition, the same could not be said about their dance.
‘Your Song’

In traditional One Direction fashion, Payne’s bold voice began the emotional first verse Elton John football. He stood on stage under a single light before the rest of his colleagues joined the chorus. They teamed up in gray hoodies and sweaters for a low-key performance – except for Horan, who opted for a bright red zip-up shirt.
