Review: Quarterly Conference, Cape Town, South Africa

Almost all South African itineraries include the Mother City – and with no shortage of accommodation, it can be confusing what to choose. On a recent trip, I stayed at the Summit on Quarter – a stylish hostel in one of the city’s most charming neighborhoods. Time to take a little tour of the house…

Acceptance
This place is managed by Nox Cape Town and the booking process is hassle-free. Before your visit, a WhatsApp group is set up (with the same access to the computer), where your hosts prepare all the details of your visit and are available 24/7. At any time you can get help with your booking from the Nox team, and have questions answered quickly. Our host met us for a short orientation and a nice touch of personality, which I often find lacking in self-examination.

The penthouse
Summit on Quarter has two luxe bedrooms, an open plan lounge and dining room – then a rooftop terrace with pool. The master bedroom has a queen bed, air conditioning, TV, and an en suite bathroom. The second bedroom also has a queen bed, TV, and a separate bathroom with a bathtub. Both bedrooms open onto balconies with sweeping city views.

The open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area was beautifully styled and fitted out – so much so that it felt like we were staying at home and not a rented flat. Cooking was a dream in the fully kitted kitchen, equipped with a Nespresso machine, washer/dryer combo, and dishwasher. From here walking through the hallway leads to a glass door and stairs leading to the hero aspect of the apartment!

If you’re going to visit Cape Town, it’s best to hire somewhere to watch Cape Town’s Table Mounain. The best part about Summit on Quarter’s is its spacious penthouse. High above the city we danced, watched the sunrise and sunset, swam, and sunbathed with the majestic Table Mountain towering in the background. While I only slept four, with permission from the group I invited four other friends to dinner and enjoyed dinner on the roof – even in the middle of the Cape winter!

Location
Summit on Quarter is located in Cape Town’s central De Waterkant area. This fashionable residential and shopping area is actually a protected area between the city, the V&A Waterfront and the Atlantic Seaboard. Each of these places can be reached within a short walk. Next to this building is the Cape Quarter shopping center. Although careful, not all places can be walked, however, Uber is easily accessible and for a small cost can connect you to all the surrounding areas.

Everything you need to plan your trip in 2024
Another nice touch
The Nox team also has a store so your rental property is stocked with everything you need. Daily housekeeping is included for those who require the service. With Nox’s extensive network in Cape Town, they are able to connect you to all types of services. On my previous visit to one of their places, a private chef – and a fitness trainer was arranged for us.

Costs
Prices depend on the season, and range from R4310 per night, which equates to R1078 per person. Prices include daily service of the apartment (if required) and cleaning afterwards, and apply to a minimum stay of three nights.

Final decision
Summit on Quarter offers compelling Cape Town accommodation with a central location, dream rooftops with city views, and all the other services offered by Nox vacation rentals. The combination of location, style and security makes it a top choice for Mother City accommodation – be sure to book early as dates go fast.
