Review: Jagrdschloss Restaurant, Kühtai, Tyrol, Austria

After the fun snowshoeing on the pristine snow in Kühtai, we modeled the road to sell jagdschless, part of the absical jagdshless resort. We already have it on good authority from our snowshoeung guide, Nick, that it is the best place to eat in town. So, set in the shadow of Kühtai’s soaring peaks, this promised a warm welcome, and we definitely made use of its desire.

Food

We didn’t have long before we caught our bus back to Innsbruck so we could each choose just one dish from the menu of soups and mines. A comforting bowl of cream of pumpkin soup was lightened with coconut milk and scattered with crisp croutons. The subtle sweetness of the coconut complements the earthy pumpkin, and is satisfying after our outdoor adventure.

I chose the Wiener Schnitzel, a delicious golden veal dish served with chips and cranberry sauce – a timeless dish and a traditional Austrian dish.

We also order the tyrolean beef burger – a delicious burger topped with melted onions, hard bacon, hot hot sauce and a generous amount of cheese, served with golden wedges.

The cook

At the heart of the Jagdschloss restaurant is the head Phetro Peter Hüble from Stria. With years of experience and passion for AUSTUSTIAN CALSHICS, Phetro returned to his homeland after a long desire to hire himself to make decisions in Jagdschless. For the past three years, he has faithfully relied on the Resort’s mission to honor its 400-year history by offering dishes based on tradition, prepared with regional ingredients.

Ambience

When we arrived, we found ourselves the only restaurant in the house. At lunch we worked until 4pm, maybe some had had surgery on the slopes and planned the meal behind them. I’m sure there’s a different energy to strange days – in many ways, it was actually quite nice, to be made for the place.

From our table, we could enjoy the view of the mountain from the summit, Watching as the clouds rise from the peaks and the ski proposals follow their routes up and down.

Costs

The Jagdschloss restaurant has reasonable prices – soups hover around the €10 mark, while most mains sit well around €20.

Final decision

The Jagdschloss restaurant is a unique form of Austrian heritage. With its traditional Fayre, a chef who respects Austrian cuisine, and the majestic view of the surrounding peaks, it is the perfect stop for anyone exploring Kühtai.

After our meal, we admired the beautiful chapel outside before catching our bus – conveniently located across the street – back to Innsbruck.
