Real estate mogul explains how Los Angeles can rebuild after wildfires, says California leaders must ‘step up’
Agency founder and CEO Mauricio Umansky criticizes the country’s leadership and high costs for homeowners, but offers some ‘hope’ about rebuilding California after the devastating wildfires.
While many Californians have publicly disagreed with California state leadership’s response to the tragic and uncontrollable wildfires, The Agency’s Mauricio Umansky believes they can “step up” and help rebuild the Golden State.
“I predict that the damage will be north of $100 billion. And we will need help from everyone,” said Umansky in “Varney & Co.” On Friday.
“The chances of you returning to your house for a short period of time are very slim,” he continued. “We have to clean the water. We have to turn on the electricity, the electricity has to come back. The government has to stand up and make the permits easier. Leave the team that will participate in all this. Things and help in rebuilding.”
The Palisades Fire, Eaton Fire, Kenneth Fire, Hurst Fire and Lidia Fire have burned more than 27,000 acres and 10,000 homes and structures in the Los Angeles area, officials said. The Eaton fire killed seven people and three other fire-related deaths were confirmed by the Los Angeles County coroner, Fox News reported.

A new analysis published by JPMorgan estimates that the total economic losses and insured losses caused by the deadly wildfires affecting Southern California may be the most expensive in the country’s history, up to $50 billion.

Umansky’s real estate brokerage has more than 50,800 listings in the greater Los Angeles area, according to its website.
“This is going to have to be a plan. There are going to be a lot of questions right now, I think there are a few answers. Obviously we have to contain the fire, and we need to put people in their homes. , and we need to take care of all our citizens who lost their homes and were displaced,” said the CEO.
Romer Debbas managing partner Pierre Debbas says the economic fallout from the California wildfires will continue to be an ‘unfortunate story.’
Homeowners “need” state and city leaders to contribute to disaster relief, relief and recovery efforts, Umansky argued, but ultimately expressed doubts about their abilities: “I don’t think they will.”

“But the hope for me is that I hope and pray for the reconstruction of these communities, that we are a very important part, that we do the right thing and find out how to do it,” said Umansky, “that they find a working team, that they find advisors around them who know what they are doing, that they listen and that they actually they work.”
