Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Grameen Bharat Mahotsav 2025 speech
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, January 4, 2025, launched the Grameen Bharat Mahotsav 2025, emphasizing his government’s commitment to empowering rural India.
He inaugurated the ‘Grameen Bharat Mahotsav 2025’ at the Bharat Mandapam here which is a six-day celebration of India’s entrepreneurial spirit and cultural heritage.
At this event, PM Modi elaborated on the important initiatives undertaken since 2014 to develop villages and improve the quality of life of millions.
Based on his experience, the Prime Minister said, “I have spent most of my life in rural areas and I have seen firsthand their challenges and aspirations.”
The Minister reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing infrastructure and basic needs in rural areas.

Access to Clean Water
Prime Minister Modi highlighted the success of the Jal Jeevan Mission, which is now ensuring that clean drinking water reaches every household in rural areas.
Digital Transformation in Healthcare
The Prime Minister emphasized the adoption of digital technology in rural health care, with telemedicine services that provide unprecedented access to medical consultations.
COVID-19 Vaccination Outreach
He praised the efforts to extend the immunization against COVID-19 to the far corners, ensuring that even the last kilometer of the Indian population is protected.
Supporting Farmers
PM Modi spoke about the global concern over the increase in the prices of fertilizers, especially DAP (Di-Ammonium Phosphate). He assured the farmers that the increase in subsidies will prevent any additional financial burden. The government has also released ₹3 lakh crore under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and has been increasing the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) of crops.
Economic Development
Highlighting rural businesses, the Prime Minister noted the benefits of Mudra Yojana and Startup India, which have contributed greatly to strengthening the rural economy.
Increased Rural Use and Reduced Costs
Citing a recent study, PM Modi pointed out that rural consumption has tripled compared to 2011. Additionally, the cost of food in rural areas has dropped by 50%, reducing the spending gap between urban and rural populations.
Descend from Poverty
Sharing data from the SBI report, Prime Minister Modi said that rural poverty has come down from 26% to 5%. He also pointed out that 25 million people have been lifted out of poverty, while the SC, ST, and OBC communities — especially those living in villages — have benefited greatly from various government schemes.

Prime Minister Modi reiterated his government’s mission to ensure that no one is left behind, highlighting targeted policies for disadvantaged communities and efforts to bridge the economic divide between urban and rural areas.
