PM Internship Scheme: More than 1.55 lakh people have registered, the report said

More than 1.55 lakh people have applied for the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme, sources said on Sunday.
The dedicated portal for this program started registration at 5 pm on October 12 and the target of the pilot project of this program was to have 1.25 lakh people.
Sources said that the number of people registered to enter the portal stood at 1,55,109 on Sunday.
Those in the age group between 21-24 are eligible to apply for this program, which is operated by the minister of corporate affairs through the portal ‘www.Pminternship.Mca.Gov.In’.
Internships will begin on December 2.
Under this scheme, an intern will get a monthly financial assistance of Rs 5,000 for 12 months and a one-time stipend of Rs 6,000.
The Ministry said on Saturday that this past week, the portal has added more than 80,000 opportunities in 24 sectors, including oil, gas and energy, travel and tourism and automobiles.
“The portal ensures effective access to internships in all fields through Aadhaar-based registration and tools like bio data generation,” the department said.
The initial cost of the pilot project for this program is estimated at Rs 800 crore.
The programme, announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Union Budget 2024, aims to provide an internship opportunity in India’s top 500 companies for 12 months.
