New 76ers coach Paul George really feels for Donte DiVincenzo after he had his first season with the Knicks and was traded.
Of course, the nature of business is also how the cookie crumbles in the NBA, but it has to hurt.
Donte had a successful 2023-24 season for the Knicks, recording career-highs in points (15.5) and field goal shooting (40.1 percent).
He even broke 3PM’s franchise single-game hitting streak record (11) and was a huge part of the team’s success throughout the season.
DiVincenzo also played alongside Villanova teammates Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart and PG-13 before being traded to the Timberwolves in the Karl-Anthony Towns trade.
PG-13 thinks Donte has every right to be upset about it.
“He must have feelings. “If you think about it, bro, Jalen Brunson was amazing in the playoffs last year, but DiVincenzo made a name for himself in New York,” the Sixers forward said on the latest episode of the Podcast – Podcast P With Paul George.
“They have made a name for themselves. And that’s a tough place to play, that’s a tough place to be a star. But they stood up. So, I know there was some emotional frustration about the sale from there. You go with your boys, you get a home, you get fit, and you play for one of those hard-nosed coaches. Everything is directed at DiVincenzo to play in New York. So, I know there must be some resentment about that trade on his behalf. Going there, there should be anger and more motivation to destroy the Knicks. “
So far, DiVincenzo has been good in Minnesota, averaging 11.7 points, two rebounds, 2.3 assists and one steal per game on 33.3 percent shooting from the field and 28 percent from three-point range.
