Oscar De La Hoya In Ryan Garcia Vs. Devin Haney Rematch: “No Need For You”

Golden Boy Promotions manager Oscar De La Hoya says he prefers Ryan Garcia to forget the rematch with Devin Haney and wants him to fight WBO light welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez instead.

With Ryan’s popularity and massive following on social media, a clash between him and Teofimo (21-1, 13 KOs) will bring in a lot of pay-per-view buys on DAZN.

No Rematching Required

It would be a match that would attract fans all over the world because Teofimo is still considered undefeated in the eyes of many people because his defeat by George Kambosos Jr was a narrow one that could have happened either way. At that time Teo was sick and injured.

Turki Al-Sheikh is reportedly in talks for a rematch between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney. It’s not sitting well for De La Hoya, who sees Devin already losing to Garcia in one of his 12-round bouts against the Bay Area native.

Haney has to get back in line because he has a chance to face Kingry, and he completely failed. All the whining Haney has done since then about Ryan’s failed test seems to be bad, showing that he doesn’t accept that he was beaten. You have to bet that if a rematch happens, Haney will use Ryan’s failed PED test as his marketing ploy throughout the promotion.

Image Anxiety

It would be a terrible thing for Ryan’s career to have Devin and his father, Bill, remind his fans that he tested positive for Ostarine in every interview. Even if Ryan wins again, his image will be tarnished forever just because of the Haneys’ bad mouthing.

There could be problems if Haney tries to get Ryan to agree to VADA against his wishes. He feels suspicious of Devin and his father, Bill Haney, who are pushing him hard.

De La Hoya doesn’t see anything that will help Kingry fight a defeated opponent, Haney, as he beat him badly last year on April 20. Taking him back for no real reason other than money is not enough. Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) can do so much more.

Golden Boy’s program

“Personally, I don’t see the need for that. Ryan destroyed him, and that’s the main thing,” said Oscar De La Hoya on Fight Hub TV about him seeing no need for a rematch between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney. “We have to make better fights.

“There are fighters that we can match Ryan with anyone and make it a gruesome event. If [Kingry and Teofimo] they are leading right now, and that’s what people want to see, we have to win,” said De La Hoya.

A fight between Ryan and Teo will sell and create fan interest. However, Haney is not a PPV attraction, has no charisma, and has nothing to say in interviews. His father, Bill Haney, kept fans interested in his fights. Dev had his chance, so he hit it.

Haney did not play in that fight, and the only reason he saw the final bell was that the referee saved him in the seventh round.
