One of the most popular islands in Greece is getting a JW Marriott resort this year

It may be the early days of January, but it’s never too early to start pinning for summer. And this coming August, Marriott Bonvoy loyalists – and those who just want to go to Greece – can look forward to the very first JW Marriott resort on the island of Crete.

Now accepting bookings for accommodation starting on Aug. 1, 2025 or later, the JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa is located on Marathi Beach near the city of Chania. The nearest airports are nearby Chania Airport (CHQ), which mainly serves domestic flights, and Heraklion International Airport (HER), the main international airport of Crete, about two hours away by car.

The redeveloped resort sits on more than 100 acres and will feature 160 rooms, suites and villas designed to look and feel modern and elegant, with layers of “authentic Cretan heritage” woven throughout. For guests in hotels and guesthouses, expect a private pool or jacuzzi.

Dining options at JW Marriott Crete will include an open-air Cretan restaurant, an upscale seafood restaurant, an Italian restaurant open for dinner, a buffet and an a la carte Mediterranean restaurant open all day – and a side bar pool and large bar.

Throughout the resort, there will be plenty to do, including lounging by the many swimming pools or sunsets at Marathi Beach, hitting the Anoseas Spa for a massage or other treatment and enjoying the beauty of Greece.

Bookings are now open for stays from Aug. 1, 2025, onward, with the lowest cash rates at the end of the season in October at around $290 per night. Unfortunately, Marriott Bonvoy points values ​​are not yet available.
