Devin Haney On Prograis’ Loss To Catteral: “I Ruined Regis”

Devin Haney came out of the woodwork tonight to kick a man when he was down, dropping Regis Prograis after his 12 round decision loss against Jack Catterall at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, England.

Haney appeared to contradict Prograis (29-3, 24 KOs) kindly telling Catterll (30-1, 13 KOs) that “that’s better” he has fought while playing and says he deserves a shot now.

That comment from former WBA and WBC 140-lb champion Prograis prompted a reaction from Haney, who was upset at X, saying “wasted” Prograis for his victory last year on December 9 at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California.

Boxing fans believe that Ryan Garcia destroyed Haney, who has not fought since then and may not be the same after the way he dominated in their April 20 fight.

Haney won a one-sided 12-round decision by a score of 120-107 x 3, but it was an ugly win that included a lot of holding and running on his part. It was very boring to watch, and even more so than Catteral’s win of the evening, which had a Shakur-esque quality to it. The difference is that Catterall is just a blue-collar man from the UK.

Catterll showed rare strength tonight, dropping the 35-year-old Prograis twice in the ninth round and making him defend the final three rounds. In the twelfth, Prograis tried to throw a bail homerun punch, missed badly and fell to the canvas face to face.

The scores were 117-108, 116-109, and 116-109. A defeat for Prograis could end his career. He has not announced his retirement, but it is believed that he may choose to retire.

“I think Jack is the best I’ve ever fought,” Prograis said on DAZN after his loss tonight against Jack Catterall. “I had my time in the sun. It’s time to pass it on to him. Really good, Jack. I fought the best of all. You were the best so far. “
