Nina Dobrev Has ‘Survivor’s Guilt’ After LA Home ‘Does’ Fire

Nina Dobrev is thinking about the devastation caused by the wildfires in Los Angeles – and is encouraging her followers to do the same.

“Hello everyone. It’s been such a sad time in Los Angeles lately,” said Dobrev, 36, in a Sunday, January 19, Instagram post. “I was sick to my stomach because of all the destruction and damage caused by these fires that displaced many families. My heart aches for all the people affected by these wildfires.”

Dobrev explained that he was among the tens of thousands of people who were forced from their homes by the wildfires that started earlier this month. Dobrev left her home on January 9, which was her 36th birthday.

“Definitely not how I planned to spend my birthday,” Dobrev said. “But I wanted to make this video to thank everyone for their birthday wishes and make a request. I don’t know about you, but I’ve always felt survivor’s guilt.”

Dobrev noted that her home was “next to one of the fires,” but in the end she “made it.” He added, “But many others were not so lucky.”

Dobrev encouraged her fans to donate, linking to a spreadsheet in her bio highlighting GoFundMe links for “many families” who lost their homes.

“What people need right now is financial support that will help them get back to their situations and start rebuilding their lives and their homes,” he said. “Pacific Palisades, the Altadena-Pasadena community, in particular, really needs it.”

On her birthday, Dobrev donated to the GoFundMe page and said she would “love it” if her fans would do the same – small or large donations.

“I put myself in the shoes of all these people whose homes burned down and their belongings, their memories, everything that made them feel safe in the world is now gone, and their insurance abandoned them,” said Dobrev. “For some of them, the scale of the crisis is immeasurable and difficult to understand. They lost everything.”

Dobrev said her heart is broken into “a million pieces” for the families affected by the fire. Dobrev ended her video by sharing that she was thinking about those affected, saying, “My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.”

“The damage in LA is immeasurable and heartbreaking 💔 This is my plea for help. On my birthday, my only wish this year is to help a family in need,” Dobrev captioned her post. “I have donated to the families in a Google document linked to my history. If you have been seeing all the pictures and videos online and if you want to help too, please consider donating. There is a dedicated section for black families and other historically marginalized groups in the Altadena community who have been hit hard. “

He concluded by saying, “Thank you for your support always, but especially now. The road to rebuilding and healing for the many families who have lost everything begins now, and it will take a long time… ❤️‍🩹 #LosAngelesfires.”
