Andy Cohen again Anderson Cooper are known for their hilarious – and sometimes outrageous – mid-range antics during CNN’s live New Year’s Eve broadcast.
Cohen became Cooper’s running mate in 2017 when he took over Kathy Griffin. However, the two got to know each other decades after crossing paths when their friends tried to set them up on a blind date in the early ’90s.
“We got a call to set up a date, and I knew within 45 seconds that I had never met Andy Cohen,” Cooper said. “I hope, I’m not going to steal it,” Cohen said at BravoCon in November 2023. “I haven’t heard anything yet, but come on, they need to let us drink. It’s New Year’s Eve. That didn’t go well last year in terms of the audience’s excitement about our drinking. People really care and I hope the CNN gives the people what they want.”

During the 2019 broadcast, Cooper tried Jägermeister for the first time before telling a funny story about his late mother.

Counting down the deadlines to 2022, Cooper and Cohen decided to play a game called “Mystery Beverage” where they had to drink various drinks while blindfolded.
Excitement erupted when the two tried cucumber juice on live TV. “I’ve never had a pickle,” Cooper said. Cohen replied, “You never had a pickle? What! Sweetie, eat the bread.”

After CNN lifted Cooper and Cohen’s alcohol ban on New Year’s Eve 2023, the pair became a hot topic on the air — and throughout the show.
“I hear a lot of people, and I think they’re asking themselves: Is dad getting his juice?” Cohen asked. Cooper replied, “Can dad get his juice responsibly?”

Cooper couldn’t believe his eyes and ears when John Mayer decided to join the broadcast from a Japanese cat bar.

When the Conclave The actress joined Cohen and Cooper on New Year’s Eve 2024, and the pair challenged her to name the “saddest, most meaningful memory” that went viral over the summer. Fiennes had never seen the TikTok video that sparked the trend, but as he started, it quickly became clear that Cooper would be left standing.

While Cooper and Cohen recounted their favorite moments from 2024, Cohen made the mistake of revealing the time he was caught dancing alone while wearing a tie-dye shirt and grinning from ear to ear at a Dead and Company concert in Las Vegas.
Before the video started, Cooper was in awe.
As Cooper tried to talk through laughter — and maybe tears — Cohen asked him, “Have you ever been happy?”
