Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk plans to use Tesla Cybertrucks and Starlink technology to provide free internet to areas devastated by wildfires in California.
Musk, who is the CEO of both Tesla and Starlink, wrote in a post to X, one of his companies, that the delivery of the Cybertruck will be delayed for the next few days.
“I apologize to those who are waiting for the Cybertruck to be delivered to California in the next few days,” he wrote. “We need to use those trucks as mobile stations to provide power to Starlink Internet terminals in areas of LA without connectivity. The new truck will be delivered by the end of the week.”
In another post, Musk said Cybertrucks equipped with Starlink and free internet will be placed in a grid pattern in areas that need the most technology, throughout Greater Los Angeles and Malibu.

Musk also said that security personnel will be added to the Cybertrucks, as well as snacks and drinks for passers-by.
The move comes three days after Musk announced that he would provide free Starlink terminals to areas in Los Angeles.
He made the announcement while retweeting photos of a journalist claiming the Starlink internet service had a connection.

The reporter said that Starlink is “the only reason we can hear and communicate with you right now, because there is absolutely no cell service in this area.”
On Sunday morning, billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman wrote on the X website that extinguishing the fire before it spread did not seem like a “great technological challenge” to overcome with the help of companies such as SpaceX, xAI and Anduril Industries, the defense. a company specializing in autonomous systems, unmanned aerial systems and unmanned aerial systems founded by Palmer Luckey.
“So [Elon Musk] again [Palmer Luckey]why not start a company that uses satellites, AI, and drone technology to put out fires before they spread?” Ackman asked in the post. The number of drones sent to extinguish the fire and the nature of the extinguishing agent (water, foam, dry chemicals or water etc) can be a function of the nature and scale of the fire. No human life would be spared [at] risk and no risk of DEI involvement in drone selection. WHAT DO YOU THINK? I would like to invest. And it would be great for real estate values in California.”

Despite Musk’s efforts to help, one user wrote to him on X, “California hates you and Trump,” which the CEO of SpaceX admitted to be true.
“That’s true for some Californians, and the media will accuse me of being arrogant, but, if this helps save even one house or one life, we still have to do it,” Musk replied.

But one user asked how he could donate his Cybertruck to help with the effort.
“Drive your truck into the devastated areas with a Starlink terminal on the roof and turn on the WiFi,” Musk said.
Musk said the wildfires in the Golden State could have been prevented but laws are getting in the way of taking measures to prevent infernos.

“These fires are easily preventable, but ridiculous laws in California prevent action, so every year homes burn, and more people die,” Musk wrote on the X blog.
