More than 7,000 special trains running on Chhath festival: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw conducted a surprise inspection at the New Delhi railway station on Friday to review the arrangements to deal with the rush of passengers going to various places in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh on Chhath Puja.
While inspecting the arrangements and looking into other problems faced by travelers during the journey, the Union Minister tried to understand the current situation with officials, and engaged in discussions with a few passengers.
Ashwini Vaishnaw sought to be informed personally by officials and passengers at the New Delhi Railway Station.
Speaking to IANS, Ashwini Vaishnaw said: “This year, arrangements are being made in a systematic manner. 7,035 special trains are running, compared to last year’s 4,500. In addition, arrangements have been made to buy tickets outside the station to allow people to arrive and wait in an orderly manner to ensure that passengers do not face difficulties in reaching the platform.
Elaborating on the preparations, the Minister explained that the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has been deployed in different areas to control the situation. The Minister also conveyed Chhath and Diwali wishes to everyone.
In fact, there are more than 7,000 special trains in operation. Many people go home using these trains during Diwali, and those planning to go to Chhath and return after Puja can also use these services.
Meanwhile, the officials apprised the Railway Minister about the robust plan of Indian Railways to ensure safe and smooth journey for the passengers returning home for the Chhath Puja celebration. Major routes from Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru to high-demand areas like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are maintained.
Coaches have been added to trains, while stations have improved security measures, including CCTV surveillance, to handle the high volume of passengers.
