Meralco shines globally, receiving awards for sustainability and business leadership

Manila Electric Company (Meralco) led by Manuel V. Pangilinan (Meralco) reaffirmed its leadership in sustainability, innovation, employee engagement and social responsibility as it took home eight (8) Stevies at the International Business Awards of 2024 (IBAs).
For the second year in a row, Meralco’s First Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer Raymond B. Ravelo took home the Gold Stevie Award for Sustainability Champion of the Year in Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

Meralco has also won three Silver Stevie Awards for its sustainability and corporate social responsibility efforts.
Meralco’s sustainability campaign, “Powering the Good Life,” focuses on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and focuses on the pillars of Energy, Planet, People, and Prosperity, and was recognized with the Sustainable Leadership Award in Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
In addition, One Meralco Foundation’s (OMF) “Productive Leadership in Disenfranchised Communities in the Philippines,” which demonstrated the foundation’s program for inclusive development in isolated and disadvantaged communities in the Philippines, was recognized under Organizations of the Year – Non-Profit or Government, while OMF President Jeffrey O. Tarayao is honored under the Thought Leader of the Year for the Non-Profit or Government Sectors.
“This recognition of Meralco’s CSR programs further strengthens our determination to implement more programs that will empower disadvantaged communities,” said Mr. Tarayao, who also serves as Meralco Chief Corporate Social Responsibility Officer, said Mr.
Meralco’s human resources and stakeholder management strategies, as well as its digital transformation efforts, have earned four Bronze Stevie Awards.
“Cultivating a Motivated Workforce: Meralco’s Approach to Engagement and Retention” was recognized for highlighting Meralco’s efforts to build a strong culture and improve employee engagement; while “Mbrace: Meralco’s Diversity and Inclusion Program” was awarded for its success in promoting gender equality and increasing women’s representation in the workplace.
“The 9th Meralco Luminaries: A Brighter New World” won in recognition of foreign stakeholders who align with Meralco’s vision of a more progressive Philippines.
“Lighting the Way: Meralco’s Customer Experience Dashboard for Marketing Analytics” was recognized for its innovative use of competitive intelligence to address evolving customer needs. Meralco remains committed to global excellence in enabling better, sustainable, and inclusive lives for all, driving progress through innovative energy solutions and meaningful initiatives.
Since its inception in 2002, the International Business Awards has been one of the world’s most prestigious events for companies and professionals, celebrating their achievements and positive contributions to the world. Known as the “International Stevies” and often referred to as the “Olympics of the workplace,” this year’s competition attracted more than 3,600 nominations from 62 countries, with winners selected by more than 300 executives from around the world.
