Mariah Carey Responds To Claiming Her Spotify Video Wrap Is AI
Mariah Carey sets the record straight in a video he recorded celebrating Spotify Wrapped.
“Bad light and red lip y’all think it’s AI??” Carey, 55, wrote about X on Thursday, December 5. “There’s a reason I’m not a fan of all that stuff! We’re about to celebrate #Christmas with my Boston #lambily!
One fan was quick to defend the Grammy winner against any speculation surrounding the clip.
“I got your message on @Spotify and I didn’t know it was you and I love the off-character red lipstick but I knew it was for a festive event,” the user wrote via X. “I loved it and I appreciate you and everything you do for lambily!”
Carey later responded with a two-heart emoji.
Every December, Spotify gives listeners a chance to look back at an artist and track the connections they’ve made over the course of the year with their personalized playlist.
As part of the tradition, Carey chose to record a video for his most loyal audience.
“Hey, it’s Mariah. Thank you very much for listening to my music on Spotify,” he says in the video. “Your support over the years is the greatest gift I could ask for. This year, we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of my album Merry Christmas. I hope you enjoy listening to it and I can’t wait to share new music with you soon. Happy holidays!
Carey’s 1994 album Merry Christmas featured mostly covers of holiday classics including “Silent Night” and “Joy to the World.” The body of work, however, also featured original songs including the hit single “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
The music is so popular with fans that Carey is currently touring the country as part of Christmas time visit.
In a Christmas surprise, the “Obsessed” singer was previously asked what her favorite holiday song is. As it turns out, it’s not his.
“My favorite Christmas song is this Nat King Coleversion of ‘[The] “A Christmas Carol” — that’s my favorite,” Carey revealed The Jennifer Hudson Show in November 2023 before sharing his favorite festive movies. “I love it The Elf. I have to say that. Then I like Miracle on 34th Streetthe first one. It’s old, but there’s something about it.”
Holiday music and movies often play as Carey makes treats in her kitchen before Santa arrives.
“I cook Italian food on the 23rd because my father had a recipe for linguine with white clam sauce that he left for me before he died,” he said. “It’s very good. I do that and other things. “
